In what many could argue was the best match at New Japan Pro Wrestling's G1 Special at the Historic Cow Palace, Hiromu Takahashi defeated Dragon Lee to retain the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship.
Dragon Lee has faced Hiromu Takahashi many times over the years, beginning with their 2015 feud in Mexico. However, this match showcased both wrestlers' aggressive styles and dangerous aerial moves. The match was extremely physical and entertained the Bay Area crowd. The back and forth match up had the audience watching every move, as one German suplex and one chest chop followed another, and another, and another. One of the most dramatic moments of the match was when Dragon Lee preformed a diving double foot stomp from the top rope onto the IWGP Champion's chest sending them both onto the floor outside of the ring, nearly causing a count out. The wrestling moves throughout the match, including the final Time Bomb by Hiromu Takahashi, illustrated why NJPW is home to some of the best professional wrestling in the world.
