Snuka reached his peak popularity and worldwide exposure while working with the World Wrestling Federation during the 1980s. Pro Wrestling Illustrated named Snuka the most popular wrestler of 1983. He also received Match of the Year honors the previous year (1982) for his steel cage match with Bob Backlund.
