Bret Hart and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin to receive "WWE Immortal Moment" Award at the WWE Hall of Fame [Videos]

In what many consider one of the greatest WRESTLEMANIA matches of all time, the match between Bret Hart and Steve Austin will be honored at the 2025 WWE Hall of Fame with the inaugural WWE Immortal Moment award. Hart and Austin will be on hand to receive the award in person, making Hart the first three-time WWE Hall of Fame Inductee, as he was inducted prior in 2006 as a singles wrestler, and in 2019 as a member of The Hart Foundation with Jim Neidhart.

On September 9, 1991, Ric Flair made his historic World Wrestling Federation (WWF) television debut with the World Heavyweight Championship on an episode of WWF Prime Time Wrestling, after a long successful career with rival promotion NWA/WCW.

Below is a good example of an episode of WWF Prime Time Wrestling which aired on the USA Network from the end of the so-called "Golden Age" of Professional Wrestling, showing the excellent production values of the WWF compared to other wrestling promotions at the time. WWF Prime Time Wrestling primarily served as a recap program, showcasing quality matches and interview segments from WWF syndicated programs and pay-per-views. WWF Prime Time Wrestling was replaced in January 1993 on the USA Network, with the premiere of  WWF Monday Night Raw.

Cable Television Classics: Stone Cold Steve Austin vs Vader [Videos]

Well before the internet and steaming services, cable television was dominating the at-home entertainment industry. The popular cable channel USA Network had a long relationship with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) that began in the early 1980s. This relationship created a partnership that broadcasted several wrestling programs over the years. In 1997, the WWF had multiple television programs on air, including WWF Superstars, which first aired in syndication in 1986, and switched to cable in 1996 on the USA Network. 

During the 1980s and 1990s, many top-rated professional wrestling matches occurred on pay-per-view events, such as WWF Wrestlemania and WWF Summerslam. However, the television wrestling programs offered important build up moments that were critical to adding significance to the upcoming pay-per-view matches. In addition, there were times where title changes occurred as well as significant storyline moments. Above all, wrestling programs during this era offered entertainment on a weekly basis showcasing WWF talent. 

On February 9, 1997, the USA Network aired WWF Superstars which featured Steve Austin, Bret Hart, The Undertaker, Paul Bearer, Vader, Jim Cornette, Jim Ross, referee Earl Hebner, WWF Official Gerald Brisco, and Sunny as a ring announcer, all in one wrestling segment!

Royal Rumble 1991: Friend vs Friend, Foe vs Foe. It's Every Man for Himself!

Live from Miami, Florida, the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) held it's fourth annual Royal Rumble pay-per-view event on January 19, 1991. The Royal Rumble match lasted over an hour with Hulk Hogan, The British Bulldog, Brian Knobbs, and Earthquake being the final four wrestlers in the ring at the end of the match. The main event Rumble match saw many high profile professional wrestlers including: Bret Hart, Mr. Perfect, The Undertaker, Jake Roberts, The Texas Tornado (Kerry Von Erich), Rick Martel, Tito Santana, Dino Bravo, Animal, Hawk, Hercules, Jim Duggan, Tugboat, Greg Valentine, Jimmy Snuka, The British Bulldog, Earthquake, Haku, Crush, Smash, Shane Douglas, Paul Romo, Jim Neidhart, The Warlord, Saba Simba (Tony Atlas), and Hulk Hogan.

The pay-per-view was preceded by a WWF Countdown hosted by Sean Mooney and shown on cable television to entice viewers to buy the pay-per-view event for $24.95. According to 2XZONE.com, the 1991 Royal Rumble saw the highest amount of pay-per-view purchases for a Royal Rumble event until 1999, and saw the highest buy rate of any pay-per-view in 1991.

Sid Justice's first run in the World Wrestling Federation [Videos]

Known as one of the most intense and serious professional wrestlers, Arkansas native Sid Eudy, also known as Sid Vicious, Sid Justice, and Sycho Sid, had successful runs in both World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). Sid's had a major impact in the WWF as soon as he entered the wrestling promotion in late 1991, which culminated in his WrestleMania match against Hulk Hogan in April 1992. Soon after his match against Hulk Hogan, Sid left the WWF and wrestled the next few years with WCW and the Untied States Wrestling Association (USWA). Sid later returned to the WWF for a second run with the company, and held the WWF World Heavyweight Championship belt on two occasion in 1996 and 1997.
